"Best Blended Intense Fruity EVOO of the World 2011" (Flos Olei)
The fragrance is fresh, intensely grassy, and has a predominant aroma of artichoke, cardoon, and green almond, which is enhanced by floral and cherry hints that create an extremely complex bouquet. The taste is solid with strong undertones of spice and exemplifies a harmonious marriage between fresh herbs and a long persistence of smooth, aromatic notes.
Use: strictly fresh to contrast the sweet flavor of potatoes, beans, chickpeas and vegetables; on red meat or strong-flavored fish; with fresh cheese, such as ravaggiolo and mozzarella, which enhance the fresh, green features of the oil; excellent on spinach and ricotta tortelli; perfectly coupled with plain rice and pasta with thin slivers of parmesan.

As a natural evolution of the new company’s philosophy, new objectives were developed and the concept of ‘Cru’ emerged. In 2000, Villa Magra Gran Cru was born from the best of the olives in the Chiusello grove, which is a micro area where terrain and vegetation have very special features. This extra virgin olive oil is the result of a series of extremely careful selections. It is singled out for its elegance, smoothness, and aroma combined with exceptional chemical spectrum. More than 540 mg/kg of polyphenoils (expressed in caffeic acid) guarantee an outstanding antioxidant content. Villa Magra Gran Cru is produced only in the best years and every single bottle is numbered up to a maximum of 2.100 liters.
Awards: 1st Prize blind oil tasting panel reserved for the world’s best oils, organized by the Grand Jury Europeen in June 2003 at Chateau Branire. In October of the same year at the annual great Bordeaux wine tasting venue the president of the Grand Jury Europeen, Mr. François Mauss, proposed and organized an exchange: 100 bottles of “Villa Magra Gran Cru” for 100 bottles of great French Bordeaux.
